Billing Admin

Hello,

We are currently unable to manage billing for our Atlassian account because our previous Billing Admin has left the company, and there are no remaining users with the Billing Admin role. E-44C-N89-CBE-E2C

I am an Organization Admin in our Atlassian environment, but I understand that Organization Admins do not have permission to assign Billing Admin roles or manage payment methods.

As a result, we are now blocked from:

  • Adding a payment method (credit card)
  • Managing billing settings
  • Assigning a new Billing Admin

Thank you for reaching out.

Since your organization is on the improved billing experience (indicated by your Entitlement Number), billing roles are separate from Org Admin roles. Because the previous Billing Admin has left, you must contact our Billing and Licensing Team to be manually added.

  1. Raise a ticket through: Atlassian Support: Pricing, Billing, & Licensing | Atlassian.
  2. Under How can we help you? select Other
  3. Include your EN (Entitlement Number)
  4. In the Your Question box, state that the previous Billing Admin has left and request to be added as a Billing Admin.

Future Tip: Once access is restored, assign at least two Billing Admins to avoid being blocked again.

Hi @Eivind Akerlie ,

There are two ways you can re-assign the billing admin role to your (or some other account):

  1. Recovery via previous admin account - if you can access the previous billing admin's email, you can reset their Atlassian account password to log in and assign the role to yourself.
    This kinda depends on your internal policies and if something like that is possible. For more info, I'd suggest reaching out to your IT department.
  2. Recovery via Atlassian Support - contact official support via Atlassian Support: Pricing, Billing & Licensing and provide your entitlement number, together with an explanation of the situation.

Atlassian does recomment to have at least two billing admins to prevent being locked out if one person leaves.
Or you can build some kind of offboarding process to ensure that you don't find yourself in this situation in the future.
