Title: Best Jira Dashboard Gadget to Show Sprint Progress (Committed vs Completed) Instead of Created vs Resolved?

Question:

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to build a Jira dashboard for leadership and would appreciate some guidance.

We have two types of work:

Operational work – tickets are created and resolved during the sprint, so the Created vs Resolved gadget works well.

Project work – most stories/tasks are created before the sprint starts and some carry over from previous sprint and are added to the sprint during planning. During the sprint, they simply move through statuses until they are completed.

For project work, the Created vs Resolved gadget is misleading because it only counts issues created during the sprint. It doesn't reflect the total work committed to the sprint or how much has been completed.

For example:

Sprint starts with 50 issues.

Only 2 new issues are created during the sprint.

20 issues are completed.

The Created vs Resolved chart shows 2 created vs 20 resolved, but what leadership really wants to understand is:

How much work was committed at the beginning of the sprint.

How much has been completed over time.

How much work remains.

(Optionally) if additional scope was added during the sprint.

Constraints:

We need this as a Jira Dashboard gadget (to embed in a Confluence page).

We cannot use the Sprint Burndown/Burnup reports because they are board reports and aren't available as dashboard gadgets in our environment.

We'd prefer a trend/graph rather than tables or filter results.

Question: What is the best Jira dashboard gadget (or Marketplace app) to visualize sprint progress for committed work under these constraints? Has anyone implemented something similar?

Hi @Naveena Tati,

What you seem to be referring to, is the velocity chart that you get as a report with your team's scrum board(s). For some strange reason, this has not been available as a dashboard gadget, so many marketplace apps offer alternative solutions for this. I tried to filter for a starting list on the marketplace, but there's a lot of options available: Velocity Dashboard Gadgets for Jira Cloud (not all equally relevant).

Since you're talking about building a leadership dashboard, you might want some flexibility in adding custom / more controlled reports. For that reason, it might be worth looking into great gadgets for jira cloud agile charts reports kpis or EazyBI. Both will give you plenty of reporting possibilities and may be a good reference point for comparison with other options.

Disclosure: I'm the developer of this app.

This is exactly the gap our Plugio Suite – Dashboard Builder for Jira tries to close.

It has a sprint mode: you bind a Jira board, and every widget scopes to the active sprint automatically (rolls over each sprint, or you can pin one).

So instead of "created vs resolved during the sprint", you get committed vs completed for the sprint itself — progress bars, a battery-style sprint health widget, counters for remaining work, and charts bucketed by day/week.

Dashboards render as a regular Jira dashboard gadget, so they embed in Confluence like any other gadget.

One honest caveat: it doesn't draw a classic cumulative burnup line yet — you get the committed/completed/remaining state and completion-over-time charts, not the two-line burnup curve.

You could look at Great Gadgets or not an app much used, but it's more configurable, but has less other functions/gadgets, called; Agile Velocity & Sprint Status Gadgets for Jira
