hi community
Firstly I am new to asking a question here, but I do find searching questions here and answers to be extremely helpful. Thank you community
I was recently encouraged to start using Jira NextGen, mainly because of its road mapping functionality, but I have recently noticed that this can be added to classic projects. Unfortunately I did not realise this until I had created my new project in NextGen and imported all of the tickets. I am now experiencing an issue where I cannot make bulk changes to tickets. And I cannot create the filters I used previously in Classic. Please confirm that this is the correct understanding?
Additionally, please can some one explain the benefits of using NextGen over Classic. Or whether I should consider migrating back to classic?
Thanks again!
Chris
Hi Chris,
What type of problem are you having when trying to do a bulk change - it should still let you do that for Next-gen projects.
The main benefit of Next-gen projects is that they can be managed as a stand alone project, not affected by any other project. And the functionality that is available is very easy to use.
The drawbacks are that there is not much customization right now that is available. More is being added though. And there are no shared schemes or custom fields that can be used by multiple Next-gen projects.
I hope that helps a little.
Thanks John
In terms of bulk changes, I was trying to make a status change to 50+ tickets from 'Blocked' to 'To-Do'. The standard route I would use to select a bulk change option is no longer available - via settings. But if you could help to advise how to get there, I would really appreciate that.

Well, first it is strange that Bulk Change is no longer valid. Did you run the filter and within the filter there is no option to do a Bulk Change? Can you share a screenshot of that? Did permissions change for you?

John, embarrassingly I cannot remember how to do the bulk update in classic, but I thought this was done via advanced settings - which I cannot find.
Please can you help to explain how to make bulk updates/edits to many issues in NextGen?

Sure, you go to the filter you want to change issues for and run the filter. (Or just write a filter from scratch and click on search).
Then click on the 3 dots menu in the upper right side and select Bulk change. The process is the same for all project types.
