Hi Community,
We currently use a barcode scanner that updates an Excel spreadsheet whenever a barcode is scanned. We are looking for a solution in Jira Cloud where scanning a barcode can directly update a Jira field without relying on Excel imports.
Our requirements:
Has anyone implemented a similar setup in Jira Cloud?
Any suggestions, experiences, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Uu interesting @nboreddy 👀
I did see something; let's say similar but with JSM and Assets. As for Jira, apart from what Nikola shared, I'd say some kind of custom integration would also work.
Meaning, if you would/could send specific information once the barcode is scanned, you could use an incoming webhook in Jira (preferably automation) to do specific actions. For example, do a lookup based on the barcode value and do IFs depending if there is an existing work item or not. 🤔
Could be a relatively simple setup, but it would depend on how your source (the scanner) is handling these things and if it can send data via web requests.
Cheers,
Tobi
