Backlog subtasks are not shown when filter by assignee

If I filter by assignee in the Backlog view, it won't show the subtasks assigned to me., only the parent tasks.

For example, if there is an issue assigned to someone else and it has a subtask assigned to me, I won't see the subtask in the backlog.

Is there any way to customize Backlog to make subtasks visible when filtering by assignee?

Sub-tasks are actually an irrelevance in the backlog, they don't appear because there is little use for showing them in the backlog.
