Automations, how to apply the rule

I've just created my first automation, but I'm not sure how to link the automation rule to a task.

If I create an automation and then navigate to ACTIONS > + CREATE AUTOMATION, will this automation automatically apply only to this task, or is there an option to apply this rule to multiple tasks?

For the automation, I want to create it so that when I mark this 'task' as 'done', it would relist the task again on a date or this day of the month, week, year etc.

Im needing certain tasks to reque from our task list

After I create a task, is that the only area where the automation is created? I assume it's not assigned to the task at that point, as the process only opens the automation screen. It looks like I'll need to assign it to the created task myself in the automation screen.

Hi, Scott.

Automation rules run when something happens, they are not associated to a specific Jira issue.  For example:

• when an issue is created
• when a specific issue field changes
• when an issue transitions from / to a status
• on a specific date / time schedule
• ...

You described something like this:

GIVEN a task exists that I want to duplicate
WHEN that task transitions to Done
THEN clone that task (perhaps with some date field set into the future, assigned to a specific person, etc.)
