Automation to move parent to In Progress when Child moves to In Progress

I have created an automation to move the parent to In Progress if any of the children move to In Progress. I want this to happen in the Task if the Subtasks move to In Progress and also in the Epic if the Task moves to In Progress. I've added screenshots of how I set it up along with the audit log. It appears that it is doing this any time anything transitions, not just if it transitions to In Progress status. Can someone tell me if that is true and if so, why is it doing that?Transition Audit Log.pngTransition to In Progress.png

Hi @deseymour

That is odd...given the rule trigger should limit on transitions to "In Progress" ones.

Have you checked if:

  • The rule is "glitched" from too many edit / publish cycles, and so the trigger is misconfigured.  To check that, disable the rule and re-create it from scratch and re-test.
  • Carefully examine the history and workflow for BI-4923 to determine if the item did transition to "In Progress"...but, something else transitioned it elsewhere in the flow

Kind regards,
Bill

OK, I THINK when I recreated it, it is now working correctly. I guess it was "glitched". I will try that the next time before I post on here. :) Thanks for your help.
