Automation through Form fields

Hello,

I am trying to create an automation flow fir termination process. I have a request type called as Offboarding Support. Attached to this request type is a form which has relevant fields related to the information we ask from the reporter. The problem is how to use form fields for automation. For eg- in that attached form- a field is there asking Type of Exit which has 3 options. How to use form fields to set up automation. It's giving me errors. Is automation only possible through custom fields?

Hi Seema - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

The easiest way is to create a custom field in Jira to match the Form field and then link them. Then you can use the custom field in the automation.

If creating a custom field is not the best solution for you, then you can put a value in the Field key field at the very bottom on the right side of the screen after you have selected the field in the Edit form mode.

Then you can put this code in the field in the automation:

where field-key is the value you put in the Field key for the form field.

It worked. Thank you very much. Not that I tried for termination, but for our automated notifications to employees while they are on any LOA and RTW. It can definitely help me now in my next steps in automating termination process.
