Automation rule with Parent in If statement

Using Jira Cloud in a company-managed project.  I have an automation rule that should not run if the parent field is empty.  I tried doing an If statement with Epic and Parent but both fields are unavailable to use.  Is this an Atlassian limitation?

Rule Goal to populate 2 fields from the parent when a Change Event or 'CI Core Work' issue type is created. To avoid rule errors, I would like to add an If statement/condition to make sure parent field is not empty.

Hi @Ann Rumenapp 

Could you add a condition on Related issues condition ? Parent exist or Parent and select Matches specified JQL (field is not empty)
