I'm looking to set up an automation rule that will scan numeric customID field, and if there are any other tickets matching that same customID and have ticket status of open, they will be related-linked teach other.

When the automation rule runs again, it would then remove related links of any tickets that have since been closed and are not in status = open.

Is this possible?

Hello David,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

unfortunately, this automation feature is not available on JIRA Cloud, however, I was able to partially achieve your needs using the Automation forJIRA plugin.

For your first request:

an automation rule that will scan numeric customID field, and if there are any other tickets matching that same customID and have ticket status of open, they will be related-linked teach other.

You will be able to achieve it by using the following rule:

About your second request:

When the automation rule runs again, it would then remove related links of any tickets that have since been closed and are not in status = open.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find any related automation that would be able to bulk unlink an issue once the status is changed. Also, there are no Bulk operation to change/remove link types from issues, although it was already requested: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-2428

Please, let me know if this information helps, David.
