Hello - I'm requesting assistance to setup an automation rule. When the Assignee for the overall Story is changed, I would like the assignee for all Child Issues of that Story to auto update to the new person too. I'm new to automation rules and not even sure where to start. Thank you.
Hi Marc - thank you for the welcome and the reply. I set my rule up just like your screenshot but nothing happens. Do I need to wait a period of time for the rule to go into effect and/or for the automation to occur after the trigger of changing the Assignee? Best!

No an automation rule will act as soon as its created, it should be active be default.
What does the log of the rule contain?

I found the issue. I had to edit this step from "Edit issue" to "Assign issue" - thanks again, Marc, for the help!

@Hi @Jessica Carl ,
Welcome to the Atlassian community
In addition to @Marc - Devoteam sample automation. You may add - Issue fields condition: Issue type = story.
This is the sample automation:
Trigger: Issue assigned
Issue fields condition: Issue Type equals Story
Branch rule / related issues: Type of related issues - Subtask
Action: Assign issue - Copy from trigger issues
Note: this issue will run when the story tickets assignee updated
Hope it helps.
Thank you!
