Automation issue for Test Sets and Tests

Ignacio Amoros
February 3, 2022

Hi all,

I have a Test Set with, for instance, two Tests in it. In order to create an automation to get these Tests 'Done' when the Test Set transitions to 'Done', how can I get the current Test Set in which the pointer is located?

Please have a look to the document attached in which it is shown an example and one of my vain attempts.Tests in Test Set.png

Thank you in advance.

Ignacio.

Hi @Ignacio Amoros ,
Just to get a better idea of your requirement.

Is it about the "documentation" part of xray (which is manly meant for this level of testcases & test sets)? Or would you like to deal with execution of your tests?

Best

Hi @Stefan Salzl

Let me explain this with an example:

I have a Test Set in which it is included the Test P002997-756. What I need is to create an automation that will transition the status of P002997-756 to 'done' once the Test Set has transitioned to 'done'. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much.

Ignacio.

Hi @Ignacio Amoros ´,

I got that (from a technical perspective). I´m kinda asking the concept behind it and why you would like to automate this level within jira.

- how often are test-sets created? (as the concept of testSets in jira xray is mostly meant as a container of test cases so I can quickly create a test execution --> eg. RegTest)

- What is the definition "Done" for TestCases (that are added to a TestSet)?

As far as I could read about that topic the built in automation within Jira cannot handle this technically as there is no linking or parent-child-connection between those issue types. Scriptrunner might give deeper oportunities here on this level.

Best
Stefan
