Automated Emails

Ryan Sherman January 28, 2022

Ive noticed that each time a project is added to software project, it sends an email to every engineer that is part of that project.

I want to turn this off, i only want an email to go out to the person assigned to the story, task, etc. I cant seem to find how to do this, any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @Ryan Sherman

It sounds like the projects are being created based off a shared configuration as this is not typically default behavior for new projects that everyone on the team receives notification.  To fix this, you'll need to take a look at the notification scheme attached to the projects and make adjustments there.  Here's more info:

Thank you for this link, i went in and it appears my notifications are set up to alert the current assignee, reporter, All watchers.

I do want the reporter and current assignee to get the email, how can i tell who i have set up as watchers?  I think this maybe the reason everyone is getting the email notification.

Interesting - Yes it would appear that your engineers are being automatically set up as watchers perhaps by a global automation rule or a 3rd party app.  You can see who the watchers are by clicking the eyeball icon on any issue:

I would check your global automation rules to see if someone set something up where it's automatically adding watchers.  You can do so by navigating here:

Other than that, take a look at your Apps to see if the culprit is there.
