Automate scheduling meetings with Jira and Microsoft Teams

Good morning I have been tasked to come up with a solution to scheduling meetings via Jira for our Change Management request. I know we can integrate Microsoft Teams calendars into Confluence via the /calendar command, but I am unaware of the steps to create the automation for scheduling a meeting. 

Essentially what needs to happen is when the date and time of a "scheduled change" is selected on the Change Management ticket an API call is made to Microsoft Teams to schedule the meeting with the appropriate attendees.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to the Atlassian community! :) 

First of all: I'm sure there is a way to do this using the regular Jira automation and combine it with Power Automate e.g. The easiest part is to create the trigger in Jira Automations.

When creating the trigger you can make him to listen only to changes of a certain field value and/or for a certain issue type etc. -> In your case I'd say the trigger is firing when the field value of the field "schedule change" has been added/changed.

Anyway, the "tricky" part is to send out the webrequest to Microsoft to schedule the meeting.

If you are also open for suggestions from a 3rd-party vendor I will introduce myself, if not, just stop reading now ^^:

From what Atlassian currently documents and my Experience with Teams Integration, there is no native Jira Automation action to schedule a Microsoft Teams meeting.

What is supported natively is:

• sending a Microsoft Teams message from Automation
• using the Jira app in Teams for notifications and Jira interactions

There’s an automation for scheduling meetings for incidents, but that’s not your use case and work only with Incident Request Types.
