Hi,
My company-managed boards have changed behavior today, rendering them unusable.
Previous behavior:
Boards were by IssueType - Epic, Feature, Bug, Task etc. Clicking on the top right configuration, I could switch the workflow for each to get a clean board with their specific status.
New behavior:
Board includes all IssueTypes and all status, which makes it non-functional to users breaking many projects boards and efforts in viewing the projects.
Potential solution:
I would need to go into every single spaces boards to manually configure to partially address, choosing a single filter on issueType and configuring to hide particular status'. This would likely take me a full day which I do not have.
Findings:
I reviewed the audit logs and there are lots of changes by user: 'JIRA' at 12/Jan/26 4:12 AM, which correlates to when we started to see this issue. I couldn't find any other changes that could impact.
Unfortunately, this is a significant enough change and impact that I am going to have to review other solutions after using and promoting Jira for ~20 years. I'm hopeful that there is some way to revert this change to avoid that. Appreciate any guidance.
Thanks,
Hello @Richard Walshe
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Atlassian has been introducing a change for the board display of Business type Spaces to show all issue types and all workflows at once.
I found an example of a post I replied to in August 2025 showing (at that time) that Business space boards allowed you to select which items to show on the board based on selecting a workflow.
Here is the Article that was published about the change in Sept. 2025:
@Richard Walshe the second link from @Trudy Claspill explains what's going on. You'll have some work to do to update the views. Sorry it's not the answer you wanted to hear.

Thanks Trudy, Alex, John. Yep, that's it!
I'll take a closer look tomorrow into the article. Seems others had the same challenge as me in terms of how the design was.

Hi Richard,
Is this a Jira Business space or a Jira Software space? Can you share some screenshots?

Hi John,
It's a Jira Business space [1].
I'm limited in terms of what I can share as the data is sensitive. What I'm showing from the screen shot is that the status for all IssueTypes are now in the same board[2] , which can't fit in my screen. If I filter by issueType, I'll still see all the status' (it will be the same screen shot with a reduced count on the issues associated)
Before, each issueType would have their own workflow, and previously, yesterday and prior, I could select the specific workflow from the top right (I believe in settings [3] which have also changed), say Epic, Feature, Bug etc, and this would result in the board specific to that issueType and limited to the status associated to that issueType workflow.
We used the different workflow boards to review status at different levels, across many projects tracking customer needs. An Epic would have child cases that could be any of the other issueTypes - this is still the case, but without creating many filters or customizing the board across every project, it seems our pattern of how we review and discuss customer specific actions is now quite limited without non-trivial action, that would need to be repeated for any new project created.

Appreciate your insight.

I tried to recreate what you were describing, and I could set up a company-managed software template to have multiple boards based on Issue Type. However, I've never personally have seen the ability to toggle boards the way you describe.
I am also not aware of any changes that Atlassian would have rolled out in the last day or two that would have created the scenario you are describing. I'm pretty sure, your "new" problem is exactly the intended behavior for business projects and pretty sure it's been that way for a while.
Do you have any other information you can share?

Hi Alex,
No nothing I can think of in terms of additional information. As I mentioned the audit logs were the only other stand out piece of info that appears to correlate in timing.
The setup I described had been in place for quite sometime, we've designed a lot of the interaction around it.
Thanks,

One thing that occurred when we were looking into the issue later I the day, we stopped seeing the tabs such as timeline, calendar, forms etc. It seemingly occurred randomly, across all projects of the same company managed setup, after about 20mins it went away. This was many hours after initially noticing the board change and it wasn't occuring then.
Assuming it's a red herring. Never saw that behaviour before
