Attlasian Connect with JIRA Software Server

Hi 

I have created a simple atlassian connect example and I tried to install it on my local jira server.

I got the follwing message: The add-on you are trying to install is only available for Atlassian Cloud. 

Why is it only available for Atlassian Cloud?  Is it planned to support atlassian connect also for on premise jira servers?

No.  The Connect framework for add-ons is not going to be implemented on server, and the ability to add server add-ons to Cloud is limited (you can only add the handful Atlassian have chosen, and they are shrinking the list, not extending it)
