Assigning when creating issue dosn't work.

Hi everybody.

We can't assign a issue to someone else when we are creating a new issue.

Check out the screenshots, where I try to assign to "Juan Bianco" the new issue.

We can then assign correctly from the new issue, but not from the creating issue view.

Hi Matias,

I could think of 2 different issues which may cause this:

1. You might not have the Assign Issue permission in the project.
2. The user who you are trying to assign the ticket to, that user might not have the "Assignable User" permission in the project.

If you have project admin right you can check your project permission scheme to verify the permission scheme. Or ask your project admin / jira admin to check this for you.

I'm assuming you have the ability to modify the Assignee field during creation, and select Juan's name.

This would rule out any permissions issue (although still worth double-checking).

It seems like there is some automation setting the Assignee to the creator during creation - I would check:

• The Workflow, to see if a Post Function (Company-managed Project), or Workflow Rule (Team-managed Project), is auto-assigning the issue at creation
• If an Automation Rule is active on this Project, which is modifying the Assignee just after creation
  • If it's an Automation Rule, you should see the action being taken in the Issue's History tab, immediately after the Issue is created
