Assigning a user in an issue collector

Julia Lang May 12, 2022

I need to auto-assign a user in an issue collector. Is this possible?

Or is it possible to at least mention the user in the ticket without having to reference their account id? I saw this post, however, I am unable to access the account id https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Software-questions/Mention-user-is-jira-issue-collector-not-working/qaq-p/1871073

Hi @Julia Lang
Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

While I may not have a straightforward solution for this, it's possible. :)

You can check the document below to learn more advanced configurations for the issue collectors, such as hidden fields with preset values.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/advanced-use-of-the-jira-issue-collector-938847349.html

Two options that I can think with this:

  • Create a component with a default assignee.
    • Then you can add the component field on your issue collector with the desired value.
  • Add a label or a custom field with predetermined values.
    • By default the issue collector will already add a label to all tickets, so you may want to take advantage of it.
    • Then you can use Automation for Jira to act on issue creation events.

I hope that helps.

Kind regards,
