Assigning a Custom Workflow to a Custom Issue Type

Hello,

I created a custom workflow for a custom issue type and trying to assign theM to each other. However I am getting the error message of " Cannot modify a scheme that is being shared by multiple projects." What is the workaround ? How am I going to associate an issue type with a workflow? Thank you.

Hi,

This scheme is shared with other projects, therefore a change here will also be reflected in the other projects. If this is the behaviour you want, you can edit the scheme in Global Workflow Schemes:

If you want it to apply only to one project, you need to duplicate the scheme, make your changes and apply it to the project.

Regards,

Jeroen

Thank you! I edited the scheme in Global Workflow Schemes and it worked.

Hello @Elif Alverson

Are you trying to edit the workflow scheme in the admin tool or are you trying to edit the workflow through your project? I think if you're trying to edit the workflow through your project directly as a project admin, it might not allow you to because it is shared.

If you go into the admin settings and change the workflow scheme to run with the specific workflow for the specific issue type I think it will work and it will update all projects as well.

You could also create a new workflow scheme.

Hi @Elif Alverson

You need to create a new Workflow Scheme and associate the custom issue type with the related workflow. Then associate the workflow scheme with the project and redo the mapping.

Is there a way to associate the workflow scheme based on an issue type. It seems like I can only choose one scheme for per a project.

Thank you all!

I added the workflow scheme and the workflow to the issue type, however since the workflow is inactive it did not change the workflow for this issue type at the project settings. It still shows the previous workflow. It seems like if I change the workflow scheme , it will impact all the existing issue types.  How am I going to map this issue type with the new workflow to the project?
