After creating issue in JIRA i wanted to assign the issue to my colleague to start working on it. when i click on update select the new assingee name from user list and lick on update email is getting triggred to him/her but field is not getting updated with new value.
How to fix this
I have a few questions
What version of Jira are you using?
And are you using any scripts that may effect the assignee field?

Are you able to update all other fields?
Is this a custom field?
Please try to reindex your instance. It may be that something was altered from the admin side that isn't allowing you to update a field.

yes we are able to update all other fields.
no its system default field . Reindexing was already done @Patrick Cartier [Candylio] still issue is not fixed. not sure what caused this

Does it happen for just you or all users?
It might be the "browse users" global permission.
