We are using Jira server and have found that G suite is seeing all the jira notifications (from Automation rules and issue notifications) as spam or just blocking them from going to the users.
We suspect that G suite is seeing them as spam since we see quite a lot of notifications per hr. Not sure why since it should be all internal and being sent to and from our email domain.
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening or how to fix it so notifications don't get blocked?
This article discusses one possible reason. Google and most other email services check that the emails are coming from a valid email server. They do this by checking MX records on your domain and seeing if the email source IP matches that of an MX record (described in the article.) If you are sending mail directly from the Jira server, this will likely not be a valid MX record and Google will mark the mail as spam. The solution would be to relay through a valid email server.
You may (also) be right about the rate limit. Microsoft limits on O365, so it is reasonable to assume that Google does.
The email is being sent from our domain email to our domain email so this is not an issue.
Looking into the logs there are some issues with automation and issue collectors that could be flooding g suite think we are spamming?
Not sure if it is on the jira or G suite side because everything is set up correctly.
