Hi Layze,

A couple of things to try:

1. Go directly to admin.atlassian.com instead of the general contact form — select your organization, then Directory > Managed accounts (not the older "User management" section). If you're already an Org Admin, you may be able to update the email directly there.

2. For the support form error — double check you're entering an actual live site URL (e.g., yourcompany.atlassian.net), not a general org name, since that's likely why it's being rejected.

3. If you're not currently an Org Admin and no other admin remains, Atlassian Support will need to verify ownership — often via access to the departed admin's email, so temporarily reactivating that account (if possible) is usually the fastest path.

Are you currently an Org Admin yourself, or was the departed person the only one?

Hi, Varun!

The person who left was the only one with "organization administrator" access. This is our main problem, as our internal IT team cannot reactivate that person's email account so we can update it to a new one.

Regarding the form, I am entering my organization's active URL. I don't understand the rejection; I thought it might be a bug, but I have tried on different days, in an incognito window, by clearing the cache, and using other solutions, yet the rejection persists.

Hi Layze,

Since the departed admin was the only org admin and their email can't be reactivated, there's actually a path that doesn't require their email at all: domain verification.

If your organization owns/controls the DNS for your company's domain (e.g., the part after @ in your work email addresses), you can verify that domain with Atlassian directly:

1. Go to admin.atlassian.com
2. Navigate to Directory > Domains
3. Choose either the DNS (TXT record) or HTTPS (upload a file to your web server) method
4. Once verified, you can claim the accounts under that domain — this effectively lets you take administrative control without needing the old admin's email access

This is meant for exactly this kind of situation — no active org admin, but you still control the company domain. It can take up to 72 hours to verify via DNS, so worth starting that process now alongside anything you're doing with Support.

For the rejected support form URL — that may be a separate issue; worth still raising a ticket referencing this domain verification path in case Support needs to assist further once you're verified.
