All my stories attach to the sprint and do not have date

Hi,

I am a newbie on Jira, I create a scrum team managed project - then I create epics and under these epics there are stories - and there is absolutely no problem here.

But whenever I start the sprint when I click on stories, they automatically attach themselves onto the sprint and the exact date of the sprint and I cannot change anything, also on the roadmap it shows exactly the wrong data as stories have different dates.

Can anyone help where I am making the mistake - or how i can correct this ?

Hi Egeman - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

It would not make sense to put dates on stories within a sprint. The sprint is already time boxed and you should do all stories in the sprint. You can rank them so that you work on the more important ones first, by dragging them up or down in the column. But you should not be attaching dates to them.

Hi John,

Really absurd, what about tasks - I need to show the timelines to my stake holders on the roadmap visually - can you please guide me ?

I don't think I understand what you are trying to do. If you want to show Epics on a timeline/roadmap, then you can do that. But you shouldn't be trying to show the details of a sprint on a roadmap.
