All epics are not showing on Jira board

Currently using the Cloud version. The Jira board is not showing all epics from the backlog/ Epic dropdown. All statuses are mapped. Not sure where a limit is set not to show all epicsJira_Epic_Isssue.jpg

Hi Ray, welcome to the Atlassian Community.

One possible reason epics are not showing on the board is that the board filter is excluding the Epic issue type.

Open Board Settings, then go to General and review the filter query. Make sure it does not exclude Epic.

Also check that Epic statuses are mapped to board columns. Unmapped statuses will prevent epics from appearing.

Finally, confirm that issues are properly linked to their epics using the Epic Link field.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response.

I did check all the points you listed prior to posting my message. But, I need to mention some of the epics currently don’t have any issues linked to them at the moment. The board filter from configure/general shows all the epics as expected. There seems to be a limit of 20 epics or so in the backlog epic view, searching for epics not showing in the epic drop-down produces no results. Is epic with no Jira issues a problem?

@Ray S welcome to the Atlassian community

In the board's configuration check and see what filter is feeding it.  You can then check the filter and see if the epics are included in that filter.  If they are not, then you will need to fix the filter to include them.

Hi Ray - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

When you say all statuses are mapped - does that mean that some Epics have a different status from the Epics that are showing on the board? And if so, what is the difference?

Yes. “New”, “In Progress”, “Done” and some other statuses for discovery.
