Advanced workflow feature / transition conditions on jira cloud free tier

I am on the jira cloud free tier and want to prevent a tasks being moved to complete status when they have subtasks that are incomplete.

I have tried to research how to do this but I see solutions involving transition conditions, but I don't seem to have transition conditions available to me.

I read that I may need to enable "advanced workflow features" but I don't see any way to do that.

My project board type is kanban in case that makes any difference.

Should I be able to access this functionality on the free tier?

Hi @grahamu and welcome to the Community!

You may want to check if your project is team-managed or company-managed. You can see that in the left bottom corner of your screen when you are looking at most screens inside your project.

From what you describe, my assumption is that you have created a team-managed project and indeed, workflow configuration is different. Here are 2 links that may help you understand what team and company managed projects represent and what the main feature differences are.

I see my project is team managed.

I've read the links but I don't see how to create a company managed project.  I'm just offered templates such as Kanban, scrum and bug tracking.

Am I able to create company managed projects for the free tier of jira cloud?

Yes, you can @grahamu. Many templates have both a team- and company-managed version. The choice to create either project type is offered in a step after you selected the template.
