Advanced Roadmap not working as expected

I'm trying to understand the Advanced Roadmap functionality. I've created a small sample project to experiment with. Scrum board, 2 week sprints, 2 people on the team, capacity of 60 hours a week. I have put in issues and stories with estimates, created a few dependencies between stories, set a start date on the first Epic and hit the Auto Schedule button. I get this:

Why does the work not start until Sprint 2? The Stories in Sprint 2 will fit, why the delay?
Why are Stories that are less than a week being shown as taking the full sprint?
