Can I in any way add myself as a watcher to a bulk of Jira issues ?

For those on JIRA 5, you can bulk edit the issues you want to watch and make a minor change - leave a very short comment, for example - and JIRA will automatically list you as a watcher on all of those issues...assuming you have auto watch turned on in your preferences. If you are an administrator, you can override the email notifications, too, so that nobody gets confusing emails with your very short comment.
