Hi,

I'm trying to give a single user to a project.  This person does not belong to any group.  By default he does not have access.  I have tried to use the "People" option, add him in there and grant multiple roles, but he still does not have access.

What does the "People" permission role do?

Hello Andrew,

Basically, the People Section under Project Settings defines the users added to the Project Roles of that specific Project.

To see and define what each Project Role can perform/access in a project, you can check the Permissions section under Project Settings.

That been said, it will depend on how your People and Permission sections are configured to know how you can add the user to the project. I recommend you to use the Permission Helper at the top-right corner of the Permission tab to know what is missing in the user access.

Additionally, I would like to mention that there are many ways to configure your permission scheme (By Users, groups, Roles, etc), however, the best practice would be to:

1 - Add your users to Groups

2 - Add the Groups to Project Roles

3 - Add the Project Roles in the Permissions

Configuring your system as above, you can easily manage your users' permission by defining in the People tab who should be able to access the project, without having different groups or permission Schemes.

For more details about permissions, you can check the documentation below:

Managing Project Permissions
