Adding notification tool to the JIRA toolbar

I'm running both JIRA on demand and Confluence. Confluence has a really cool notification tools (Facebook-like) that appears in the Confluence toolbar and it includes JIRA updates as well.

Is there a way to add the tool to the JIRA side?

That's called WorkBox, but unfortuantely JIRA doesn't have this, as this is a feature embeded only in Confluence. But JIRA provides notifications via Email, which you might be aware of. But please vote for this feature request to get workbox in JIRA as well. I like that feature as well.
