Adding dist. list to Jira

Is it possible to add a distribution list to JIRA so members in that list will receive an email when there is updates?

Hello @Ryan Gillespie 

You can create a group of users in Jira, and add that group in the notification scheme so that all users in that group will receive notifications for a certain event for which the group is mapped in the notification scheme of the project like Issue created, updated, deleted etc.
