This would be a smaller ask, but much like an epic or feature detail page where you have a link to start a description from a template:
When you create an Epic or Feature using the Big Blue Create button at the top of any JPD page, you only get the default template in the Description that was chosen in the Space Settings -> Types and Workflows area. Maybe we could have a configurable option to allow this link to show for this view as well so others can substitute with another available template?
Hello @Jon Linczak
It’s definitely a bit of a snag that the global create button stays so basic while the full issue view gets all the fancy template-swapping links. Right now, that modal is strictly tied to whatever single default you’ve picked in your space settings, so it doesn't give users the option to switch frameworks on the fly during the initial creation. I know it feels like a small thing to add, but since the editor in that pop-up is a stripped-down version, we’re stuck with that one-size-fits-all approach for the moment.
In your case, I would probably try setting up a simple automation rule that triggers right after the idea is created. You could add a dropdown field to your create screen called something like Document Type and have the automation look at that selection to overwrite the description with the specific template you want. It’s not quite as seamless as having the link right there in the box, but it’s a solid way to make sure the right structure lands in the description without everyone having to go back and fix it manually later.

Thanks @Christos Markoulatos -Relational- this is helpful. Sounds like even if someone uses a view with epics/features and hits the plus button, if we use your idea as a workaround, we would only implement this if the description also ends up being blank. So, not wonderful of course, but something to consider as a workaround.
Is there an official "request this as an enhancement" back to Atlassian for JPD that we can submit this idea to, even if technically is a challenge to do?

Hi @Jon Linczak if you are open to third-party apps, Templating.app gives you the possibility to create pre-filled issue descriptions, create issues in bulk, issues with dynamic values, to automate recurring tasks using templates, and much more. Afaik, it is the only as comprehensive templating app in the marketplace. I am affiliated with the team behind the app so if you have any questions, I'm here to help.

Hi @Monika Ambrozowicz_Seibert_ ,
As far as I understand, Templating.app does not support Jira Product Discovery (JPD) projects for pre-filling issue descriptions, whether via the main Create button or more generally. Is that correct, or am I missing something?
Thanks!

Hi @Paukštis it's true, at first I didn't notice that the question is about JPD. Currently, only Software and Business Projects are supported by Templating.App.
