Add "Fix Version/s" as an available field/column in Advanced Roadmaps (Plans)

Problem:
When working in Advanced Roadmaps (Plans), there is no option to add the "Fix Version/s" field as a column in the plan view. This field is available on individual Jira issues and is widely used for release planning, but it cannot be surfaced in the plan's timeline or list view.

Impact:
Teams that rely on Fix Versions to track release scope are forced to open each issue individually to see or edit its version assignment. This defeats the purpose of Plans as a cross-project planning tool and creates unnecessary friction — especially for product managers coordinating releases across multiple projects and squads.

Requested Solution:
Add "Fix Version/s" as a selectable field in the Advanced Roadmaps column/field configuration, similar to how Assignee, Priority, Labels, Sprint, and Story Points are currently supported. Ideally this would include:

  • Display as a column in the list/timeline view

  • Inline editing capability

  • Filtering and grouping by Fix Version

Use Case:
As a product manager working across multiple squads and projects, I need to see and manage Fix Versions directly within my plan so I can coordinate release scope without switching between the plan and individual issue views.

Thank you for considering this improvement!

Hi @Laura Adkins,

as @Hope Cohen pointed out, the "Release" field in the Add fields menu is the Fix version field under a different name, so the display part of your request already works in Plans.

If you find yourself wanting more spreadsheet-like handling of versions on top of that, and you're open to apps from the Atlassian Marketplace, JXL for Jira covers the full wish list in your post.

JXL is a full spreadsheet/table view of your work items. Fix versions is a regular column there: you can inline-edit it (including copy/pasting values down hundreds of work items when re-scoping a release), filter by it, group work items by it, and combine that with sum-ups per version (story points, estimates, status progress). Since every sheet is powered by a JQL query or saved filter, one sheet can span all your squads' projects:

All the best, Paul

Hi Laura, welcome to the community!

To add "Fix version" to a view in Plans, you should select the field called "Release" when you are in the Add Fields menu. This will appear exactly as it does in the "Fix version" field on an item, it just has a different name.

This field is available automatically in any Plan so you should not need to do anything else. If you need documentation on how to add other fields (e.g. custom fields), you can reference this article.

(I was not aware of this discrepancy until now, I'd assume this is because Roadmaps/Plans are often suited for executive-level stakeholders, and they are likely unfamiliar with the term "Fix version" which could cause confusion when viewing a Roadmap)

Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing, Hope! I was unaware that the Releases field would also show the fix version. I
