Add a Reporter/ Requested Participant who's email is not in the system

I have a basic question. I want to change the Reporter of a Jira case to someone who's email is not already in the system. It is outside our company but their information had not been added to Jira so they system will not allow me to put their email address into that field. How do you do this?
