Add User Defined Custom Jira Status Category

John Morales

I need a feature within Jira Software DC and Jira Software Cloud to support User Defined Custom Jira Status Category unless there is an existing 3rd party plugin that provides this capability.

There are only 3 Status Category available within Jira Software.

To Do

In Progress

Done

I need to categorize several Jira Statuses to a used define Status Category

for example

Status = In Development     ==> Status Category = "Development Cycle"

Status = In Code Review      ==> Status Category = "Development Cycle"

Status = Blocked                  ==> Status Category = "Development Cycle"

Status = Ready for QA         ==> Status Category = "QA Cycle"

Status = In QA                     ==> Status Category = "QA Cycle"

Status = "Ready for Release"   ==> Status Category = "Deployment Cycle"

Status = "Scheduled"               ==> Status Category = "Deployment Cycle"

Status = "Done"                       ==> Status Category = "Done"

Hi John,

Just my opinion but I don't think this will happen anytime soon. And you should put in a Feature Request for it directly with Atlassian. This is just the user community - we won't be able to do anything about it here.

But I am curious as to your use case for needing it.
