Hello,
I'd like to report what I believe is a usability issue in Jira's workflow transition menu.
The Cancel transition is placed directly below Start task Progress. Since these two actions are adjacent, it's easy to accidentally click Cancel instead of Start task Progress, especially when working quickly.
Because Cancel is a significant workflow action, an accidental click can unintentionally move an issue to the Cancelled status, requiring additional work to recover.
Suggestion:
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there an existing feature request for adding a confirmation step to workflow transitions such as Cancel?
I've attached a screenshot illustrating the current menu layout.
Morning @Violetta Klintsova ,
There is no native "confirm transition" block for transitions, but you could map a screen to that transition so that it doesn't automatically just transition the work item: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/map-a-screen-to-a-workflow-transition
The screen would then pop up when "Cancel" is selected, including "Ok" and "Cancel" (to the Cancel). The screen would need to be created and you could include system/custom Jira fields on that screen, maybe like a manual "I acknowledge this move".
Thanks!
Brandon
Hello @Violetta Klintsova
Welcome to the Atlassian community!
The available transitions for the Space are managed by your Jira Administrators (or the Space Administrator if the Space is Team-managed).
This is not something that Atlassian would address for you. Nor can we, as Atlassian users like yourself, address this for you.
You should raise that concern with the owners/administrators of your Jira instance.

Hello @Violetta Klintsova
Also in addition to answer from @Brandon Viertel actually Jira Honoring Opsbar sequence settings so that can be also configurable
By the way, are you an Admin or a Standard User? If you are not an Admin, wouldn't it be better when you try to address that internally instead of on the Community forum?
Best,
Arek 🤠
