I am very new to this JIRA and just started learning. I am trying to create an employee onboarding project. I have made the cards but I am having trouble linking issues to them. Also I am trying to generate an automatic email to particular person is some issue occur.
Please help me with this. I am stuck for 2 days now.

Hi @shraddha sharma , welcome to the Community. Could I ask if you have used the on-boarding project template or something else? Is this a company managed or team managed project, you can check in the bottom left-hand corner for that answer. Is this a business project or a software project, you can find this in the upper left-hand corner of your project Page. You mentioned you have made the cards I assume that what you are conveying is that you have been able to create new issues to track your on boarding. Is this correct? You were asking about linking of issues, might I understand a bit more about what you were trying to link and why? As you can see there are a lot of questions that I have. These are really necessary to better guide you and answer your question.
Certainly feel free to attach screenshots of your project board so that I might better understand what you have set up.
So I used the on boarding project template . I made a board and cards within them . Lets say step 1 , step 2 cards . I have person's name in there and what stages of onboarding they are in. I am pretty confused about these issue types as well. Let me explain you with a scenario. If a person gets stuck at step 2 where he needs a manager's signature within a due date but got stuck because his papers are not signed and it past the due date. After the due date past, the manager should automatically get an email about that person saying "Hey this person's paperwork is waiting for your signature".
I am trying to design an onboarding tracker for my company and nobody has used JIRA here so I am trying to learn and design it at the same time.
I watched so many videos but none of them shows a step wise tutorial in what I am actually trying to design.
