Ability to add a reason when watching a ticket

I'd like the ability to add a reason whenever I choose to watch a ticket. Sometimes I forget why I was watching a ticket (i.e. I need to know when it closes because I have XYZ follow up action). Then when I receive a ticket update email because I'm a watcher, the email will include the reason I entered.

As @Tomislav Tobijas  confirmed, at the moment it is not possible to add a note or Private comment for users who are added as watched of a workitem. Both feature request JRACLOUD-5282and JRACLOUD-7814 are logged for the same.

As, there is no direct feature in Jira that allows users to add a reason when they start watching a ticket. If you want to implement a feature where a reason is added when watching a ticket, you might need to consider using a third-party app that allows for more detailed tracking of watcher actions, search add-ons using below URL

Regarding the second query to include the note/comment on the notification email is also logged as a feature request, refer JRACLOUD-92190

Currently, this is not possible in any Jira app.

However, some private notes could be useful in numerous cases (not just related to watching an item).

I've tried checking JAC and I've found a couple of open items related to personal notes or comments visible only by you (which would be the same as a personal note; kinda).
Anyway, I'd recommend checking existing suggestions and potentially voting and commenting on those which might be relevant to you: project = JRACLOUD AND statusCategory != Done and text ~ "private note" 

On the other hand, you could reach out to Atlassian Support and discuss this further with them.
The team there could, potentially, open a new suggestion if none of the existing ones match your criteria.
