I agree with Afsal T As points. All 3 are valid to me, and I feel the same.
Not being able to change the number of initially visible replies is really bad. Impossible to find a specific comment without first expanding the comment's replys.
this is not a feature, it is an annoyance, when there is no way to disable it, and when people being lead to reply when clicking a notification causes so much trouble messes.
this should be voted as the worst feature ever Jira ever had. because obviously if it were good, it would have been applied right here in your community.
Hi @Shikhar Pahadia , thanks for sharing the update and for continuing to invest in improving discussions in Jira.
I wanted to share a concern from my workflow perspective. Replying to comments via nested threads actually makes tasks harder for me to follow. When comments are nested and partially hidden, it becomes more difficult to track conversations linearly and to understand what was said and done over time especially in work items with many contributors. For me, it is imperative to be able to review all comments in a clear, chronological timeline.
When I open a task that I was not previously involved in, a flat, chronological comment flow works much better than threaded discussions for understanding context, decisions, and progress.
Is there (or will there be) an option to disable comment replies or roll back to a non-threaded / linear comment view at the project or user level?
Thanks again for inviting feedback. happy to share more details if useful.

Hi @Costin Ceciu -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Please review the earlier posts in this thread to find links to the suggestions to make threaded comments configurable. After logging into the JAC suggestions / defects site, you may watch / vote for those suggestions to see progress. Thanks!
We are integrating Jira issue comments into our own application using the Jira Cloud REST API. While replies are visually grouped in the Jira UI, the API returns all comments as a flat list without any parent–child relationship.
Could you please confirm:
• Whether reply-style comments in Jira are still represented as regular comments at the API level • Whether there is any metadata (current or planned) to identify or link reply-style comments to a parent comment via the REST API
