@Owen Wallis I don't understand the point of leaving feedback if it is ignored - but I'm going to do it anyway. Your company made a mistake, that's fine, that's why pencils have erasers.
The trouble is that when everyone actively using your platform tells you it's a mistake, leaves detailed feedback explaining why it's a mistake and then instead of erasing the mistake you try to draw over it, you've just compounded the error.
Instead of an update on what you're doing to fix Rovo, what I'd really like as a user of your platform instead would be an explanation of why, instead of listening the the bulk of feedback you've received - you've instead gone down the pathway of trying to fix what wasn't broken initially and replace it with something which as many other users have opined doesn't work, isn't fit for purpose, and is actively pissing off your entire or near enough your entire userbase.
Is there a project manager breathing down your neck and insisting you ignore all feedback and press on? Is it too late now to admit that the project was a failure after spending so much time and money on it?
I can only assume politics is to blame here, no company is immune from it, but it is always sad when it's so blatently displayed for the entire public to laugh at, and then throw their hands up in the air and find other less efficient, more annoying ways to navigate a platform that was once easy to search.
Whoever is pushing this decision forward should feel bad for their incompetence, I know they won't - but they should.
To enshittify, or not to enshittify, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous design choices, Or to take arms against a sea of project managers And by opposing end them.
I guess, they want to forcefully put AI into their products. AI is the Holy Grail, nowadays. AI is a must if one wants to compete on the market. If it makes sense or not.
Personally, I'd prefer to have a reliable tool without any magic, where I know how to get what I just need. With AI, results of actions are not predictable. But it is the whole search function with its UX that has got worse, unfortunately.
I removed this comment and I don't know why. This was the gist of it...
If I'm in Jira, I want to search in Jira. I don't want a search across all apps. I want to be able to type JQL in the top search field and have it return work items.
"project = <project> and statusCategory != done and assignee = currentUser()"
Don't show me this jumble of apps.
Don't make me select whether i want to search jql or across apps with the down arrow before executing the search (which I just finally figured out).
Just search work items. I'm in Jira. That used to work.
Or better yet? Give me an option to turn this Rovo search off.
Keep Rovo in the sidebar where it belongs. This is a Rovo search? Move this search to the Rovo sidebar. Don't replace what was working great for me and so many others.
@Owen Wallis, I just want to say, I HATE that I have an adversarial relationship with Jira now.
Our first "work item" in our first "project" (I know ancient terms that were perfectly good but you guys had to change the name to "spaces" for no good reason) was dated here.
XXXX created the Work item March 25, 2011 at 10:36 AM
We have been using Jira for 15 years. 20,000+ "work items" across many, many different "projects".
And the only major problem with Jira back then was this idiotic "Smart Search Query" that many people reported on, myself included going as far back as 2013.
JRASERVER-32117 JRASERVER-59121
And it was finally addressed in 2023. 10 years to allow us to disable this idiotic feature.
Things were good for a short period, especially search.
And then here we are again.
0. Grid search replaced with "rovo" "ai" fake google search results. No thanks. 1. Automatic bulleted lists when typing "- ". 2. Automatic numbered lists when typing "1. ". 3. Getting two CRLFs when hitting enter once and one CRLF when hitting shift + enter. Two keys to get one CRLF and two CRLFs with one key is just idiotic. You want two CRLFs, hit enter twice.
4. Now you are jamming "rovo" on every page everywhere. No way to turn it off.
- Highlight text - Rovo: "Define" - NO! I just want to highlight and copy text. - Navigate to a "Settings" page - Rovo - "Find a setting" - NO! I just navigated to the exact page I wanted. STOP PROMPTING ME! - Accidentally click the gigantic "Improve Description" button and your task that you took time and effort to craft is automatically rewritten. NO! I wrote exactly what needed be written exactly as I wanted it.
Please. Stop. I don't want to migrate 20K tasks to a new system.
