When will we have an updated API so we can automate the update of the capacity plan? Currently no methods are exposed. I also don't understand why the data is isolated and requires a duplication of data instead of just reading the current assignment and using capacity simply as a view of the current data. Seems to be a waste of processing and bloat.

Individual Capacity Planning is going to GA soon — targeting end of July!
Hi folks, Sharing an update on rollout plans: we're skipping open Beta and shipping directly to GA soon.
To ship with confidence, we've refined our scope: deferring some capabilities (like monthly view) and adding impactful ones (like bulk edit, API) that deliver value from day one.
This July release will be our last planned feature drop for now, but your feedback continues to shape what comes next in the future.

Hi everyone — a quick update on where things stand.
Individual Capacity Planning view is now rolling out as part of Jira's July release! This is a gradual rollout, so you may not see it right away, but we expect it to be available to all eligible sites next week.
On your specific questions:
Summary of functionality: We will share this along with release comms. Please stay tuned.
Editable capacity: The current view is based on a standard 40-hour workweek. We're considering flexibility here for the future though I'm not able to share a timeline just yet.
German language bug: Thanks for flagging this! We're actively looking into it. It would be really helpful if you could also raise a bug report so our team can track it
Do you have an estimated timeline for when this will become more broadly available? I couldn't find it on the Atlassian Cloud Roadmap, and unlike @Danilo Gomes, I don't see it in our App Releases view either. Just wondering if there's a rough ETA.

I suspect this feature was built by a team that was impacted by the recent layoffs at Atlassian (hence the change of Product Owner) and future efforts have been diverted elsewhere. Just speculating - no real knowledge. Happy to learn otherwise :D

API: We will share more concrete info over the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your patience.
Capacity data in plans: This is under consideration and it would be really helpful if you could submit the use cases you mentioned via the in-product feedback option so we can better understand it.
Future investment:This feature is actively supported and we're continuing to invest in it, but can't share a specific roadmap or timeframe yet. Your feedback directly shapes our priorities.
I am glad to see Atlassian finally taking steps to provide out of box individal capacity planning. This current iteration does not meet our needs due to the way we do capacity planning, which happens more at the task/story/level 0, which is disappointing, but at least we are making progress.
@Alex Young I feel the same way. It is not what I, or many of my customers, need, but it is a start :)
Since the allocation is separate from the Jira objects, as it seems, it also opens up for a lot of additional functionality without disrupting the Jira tickets themselves.
I have been pondering this today as I am planning to make a video for this, and I actually think this is a positive thing, as allocation and actual work always get tangled up when you try to just use estimations.
I was negative first, but I think Atlassian might actually be onto something here... Something that can become something really great as it evolves.

Thanks for making Individual Capacity Planning generally available! 🤩🌟 It is great to finally have native individual-level capacity planning in Jira and it's one of the features I've been most looking forward to 🧡
After trying it, I feel that several valuable capabilities are still missing:
The ability to plan workload at the taskandstorylevel, rather than only against epics and higher-level work items.
The ability to switch between weekly, monthly and quarterly views.
Support for individualworkingpatterns, including part-time schedules and different weekly working hours.
A clearer connection between planned capacity and the work already assigned and estimated in Jira.
I have also submitted this feedback using the feedback button within the Capacity tab.
I am genuinely grateful that this capability has been launched at all - I feel that it is an important step forward. I hope we will see some larger improvements and more granular planning options in future releases 😊 🤞
