My trick as JIRA admin is - instead of creating JQL queries for people - arrange a short meeting or call and give them introduction into JQL and walk them through what I am doing and how.
They were used to getting the done queries from previous admin and although there were some grumpies at first - they enjoyed being able to to them by themselves after some time :)

Trick #2 - If searching for answer in Atlassian Community doesn't give me answers - I try to reformulate my question at least 3 times. 9/10 - I find what I am looking for
