Would modifying the option/value of custom field reflect the update in filters (used in dashboard)?

Hello,

Before rolling out a change to a custom field option (say value 'ab'->'cx'), I can see where the configuration can be made, but am concerned how this could affect filters/JQL set up for reports/dashboards already established. Can someone please confirm the expected behavrour in this case?

By design it should be fine. I have done this successfully  before without and observed adverse effect. However I cannot say my testing was extensive.
