Insight custom field with multiple schemas

We currently have 2 object schemas, and would like our service management project to be able to reference both object schemas with a single custom field.

We configured a custom field that integrates with Insight but it only gives the option of choosing a single schema.  How can we make it so objects from both schemas can be selected from this single field. 

Adding a 2nd field for the 2nd object schema is not an ideal solution.  Thanks for an advice!

It is not possible to define a custom field pointing to two object schemas unfortunately.
