I want to use the shortcut function for creating a linked issue
(In the original issue, I choose "Link Issue" and then I choose "+ Create linked issue")
However, regardless of what I am choosing in the pop-up view, I am asked to select a resolution status for the original issue.
I do not want to close the original issue, I just want to quickly create a linked issue that will block it.
This is possible if I link the original issue with an existing issue, so I would assume that it should be possible to avoid setting a resolution. Or?
How/where can I adjust my settings so that I can use "+Create linked issue" without having to set a resolution?
Is it even possible to fix this?
Thanks!
Hi @Peder Balke and welcome to the community!
This depends on the create screen of the linked issue you are trying to create. Most likely the resolution field is placed there and set as required. You have to remove the field from the create screen and remove as well any validator that set the resolution field as required, or set resolution field optional on the field configuration.
Ok, thanks for quick reply, Alex!
The resolution field appears when I have filled in the details and after I press "Create" in the pop-up screen. Before this, it is not visible.
Hence, I believe believe the field is already removed from as a field, but that I still need to remove it as a required field somewhere.
In which configuration view do I fix these adjustments?
Sorry for any rookie questions - I am quite new to Jira.

Before doing anything, you have to make sure that the screens are not sharable with any other issue type.
On the screen you will see, search for resolution field and remove it.
Now, if there is NO resolution field there then two things you can do:
Field Config:
After pressing the pencil, search for the resolution field and see if it's set on optional or required. Keep in mind that this field configuration will impact all issue types associated with it. In the example below, you can see that it's associated with 6 different issue types.
