Customer portal

Martin Hedlund September 2, 2021

How can I resend the link for customer to acitvate themselves to service-desk portal.
Usually when ticket is logged for the first time they got invitation link to register to service portal. By doing that it's possible for them to create an account and see their history of tickets. But when customer asks how to registrer after a while if they did not do it from beginning it's a problem. Using the link in email does not work and not possible to use "forgot passaword" tab as no account seems to be created.

Question: Can I in some way push this account activation to customer?

Hi @Martin Hedlund ,

if they created an issue by sending an email, a customer account should have been created at that time, no matter if they set the password or not. You could check the in the customers tab in your Servicedesk Project. If the customer has an account there, they should be able to use the "Forgot Password" Mechanism to reset their password. If they are not there, you could just add them there and that should trigger an email to the customer, where they can set their password.

Hi Bastian,
Thanks for explenation - will check that out.
Once one customer tab I found the user. But after clicking view profile I land on a page were it cleary states that user does not exist. Should it be in that way or why does it look like that?

Hi @Martin Hedlund

it looks re-sending an invitation to customer is not possible as of this unprocessed Suggestion:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSDCLOUD-2296

You still could vote for it to signalize you need this functionality implemented.

The error message does not necessarily mean there is something wrong with the customer's account - customer accounts do not have a profile page, this is why this message also appears for perfectly fine configured customer accounts.

From your screenshot I seem to recognize the customer's account was created fine - at least there is one closed request assigned with it.

Could you please do me a favour and check if the following steps on the linked page do work?
https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Service-Management/Where-can-I-reset-a-customer-password-and-or-resend-invitation/qaq-p/1302627

From user management ("portal customers") it should possible to select "Change password" in that state. I if am mistaken, please report back what you are getting back / seeing when trying.

Regards,
Daniel
