Add together numbers for customized numeric field in an entire project

Deleted user March 14, 2023

I use Jira for translation tasks purposes and we have a customized field called 'wordcount'.

Is there any way of displaying the total wordcounts (a customized numeric field) of all tickets in a project?

Like ticket A has 120 words, ticket B has 50 and ticket C has 12 etc. Which is in total 182 words. Maybe setting up a filter that adds all these tickets numbers together that could then somehow be displayed in for example a dashboard as a pie chart or something similar.

Any ideas are appreciated

Hi @[deleted],

to the best of my knowledge, this isn't available in "plain" Jira; you may want to upvote and watch this ticket: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-38111

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you'll have several options there. I myself work on an app named JXL for Jira in which your use case would be a matter of a few clicks.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including the ability to calculate sum ups for all your issue fields.

This is how it looks in action:

You can configure different sum-up styles (like the minimum, maximum, or average), and calculate sum ups in combination with JXL's issue grouping, issue hierarchy, and conditional formatting capabilities.

As said above, there'll be other options in the Marketplace, too. You may already know that you can trial any app for free for 1 month, and depending on the size of your size, it may be free forever. So if an app is an option for your, perhaps try a few and see which works best for you.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hello @[deleted],

I am Marlene from codefortynine.

Another option would be our Jira cloud app Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards.

With our app you can sum up any number field in our statistics gadget and pie chart gadget.

You can check out our app without installing it on our demo dashboards.
