We have been using Bitbucket for a long time now, but are exploring the possibilities of Github.
I have linked our Github account with Jira using the new plugin.
I have also added the repo to the project using the `add item` button.
When I create an issue and I click `+ create branch`, it still links to bitbucket. I want this button to link to Github. How can I make this happen?
There's now a ticket at Atlassian to add that "Create Branch" link to the Atlassian-connectivity for Github in Jira Cloud.
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-22152
We should all vote for this. ;)
@George Boot - I am in the same boat. What solution did you end up using? Did you get the third party app or did you go back to BitBucket?

Hi, @George Boot
This feature is only available for Bitbucket integrations, so this is why you are redirect to it.
It's not possible to create a github branch from an issue in Jira for now.
You can try an add-on, like the one @Robert Higgins mentioned in order to achieve what you want.
Let me know if this clarifies!

Select the task you wish to create a branch for. In the bottom right there should be the development section (may need to scroll down). Within in the development section should be the create branch button.
Hope this helps.

So the button is there, it just links to Bitbucket and not to GitHub.

@Robert Higgins can you please help me with this one?
As said before, there is a `Create Branch` button, but when I click it, it point to Bitbucket, not to Github.

Sorry George, to be honest I miss-read your original question and I am not sure about the solution to your problem. You could try looking on the Atlassian market place for apps such as this one: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1217260/create-github-branches-from-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=versions
