New! ✨ September AMA for Startups

🛑  Looking for the current Startups AMA? You can find all Startups AMA posts here

Welcome to the first installment of the Startups-exclusive "Ask me anything" forum! 🥳

Every month, we’ll create a post - just like this one - to host an AMA. This way you can get your Atlassian questions answered while in a meeting or... while taking a well-deserved break from the roller coaster of startup life! 🎢

Go ahead and drop your questions in the comments below, and @Peggy Graham  will answer them in the thread. 👇

Anything (Atlassian-related 😜) is fair game! If she can’t answer off the top of her head, she’ll do some extra research to make sure you get what you need.

And don’t forget, you can also join us for office hours if you’d prefer to chat live. We’re here to help in any way that works for you.

Hi @Peggy GrahamIs there a way to zoom into areas of a screen in a Loom recording? Something like this from Tella.

Thank you @Tyce Herrman for being the first to ask a question!  And I sent some Kudos your way, because you did indeed stump me!  (It really isn't that hard to do!  :-)

I checked with our Loom team, this isn't something you can do today, I am sorry.  This would make a great feature request though, you can submit that by doing this.

As a workaround, you can use the Zoom feature on a Mac (I'm assuming Windows has something similar).  I know it's not the same, but I hoped this would be helpful, here's what I mean -> Loom video.

I hope that helps and again, thank you for asking!

Hello!

Are there guidelines or best practices for when to use Team managed versus company managed projects?

Thanks!

David

David Smith,

Thanks for the question!  There are pros and cons to consider for team-managed vs company-managed Jira projects, so which is better when depends on your specific needs.

The quick answer is that team-managed projects let the team have full control over their project, they can add fields, edit the workflow, etc.  Teams can get up and running quickly, that's the pro, but you may not have much consistency from one project to another.  Company-managed projects are managed by a Jira administrator, so you have more controls and safe-guards in place to be sure projects are consistent, but the team will need to ask their Jira admin to make all changes for them.

This article goes into more depth on the pros, cons, and what to think about: What are team-managed and company-managed projects?

Some kudos are coming your way for asking!
