We want to allow @mentions for users without browse permission.

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Mentions are not working in JIRA applications

We want to limit our customers from browse user permission but still allow them to mention a user by the syntax [@username] . We expect the customer to know what the username is. Is this possible?

This currently doesn't work.

Cheers,

Gaj

Yes.  That should work fine, as long as the mentioned user has permission to see the issue as well.  Could you define "does not work" in this context?

Hi Nic, thanks for getting back. When I say it does not work I mean that the mention notification email to the user isn't received. The mentioned user does have permission to see the ticket.

Atlassian documentation says mentioned users also need to have browse user permission to get the notification. Seems a little bizarre this should be the case though.
