Swimlane in the backlog column

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Configuring Swimlanes

Hi, is it possible to have swimlanes just for the 'Backlog' column? I.e. "Active Backlog" and then "Ideas Gathering"? Thanks

You can't have swimlanes in the backlog. And there is only a single backlog per board.

A workaround I have seen is to create a dummy sprint with your name (Ideas Gathering) and then move the stories into that. That sprint will act as a bucket and will never be started. Purely tactical!
